Nandi Hills

If any Nature lover thinks of a place to visit nearby Bangalore, it should surely be Nandi hills! No doubt Bangalore is very clean and has its own greenery, one needs to have some kind of recreation time. So we decided (me and 2 of my friends) to go to Nandi hills. Just 60 km east of Bangalore, Nandi Hills offers a whole new experience to those tired with the usual concrete jungles of city life. Sunrise is the one thing you must see at Nandi Hills. Reaching there is very simple and a cab is quite convenient. It took about one and a half hour for us to reach there. Luckily we were able to avoid the horrible traffic that Bangalore presents one.

Note: - The Ghats section en route will stay closed from 6 pm to 6 am. So no matter how early you leave, you cannot see sunrise. In order to see sunrise, you will have to leave at evening and stay there at night.

We stayed there for the night and woke up around 5 am to experience the Sunrise. The whole area was covered with fog and had a mystic aura to it. The bone tingling chill just adds a Foreign Touch to it :P We could see the clouds floating below! It was just mesmerizing!! We reached the sunrise point 10 minutes before and were eagerly waiting for the sunrise. I just looked around to see who all have come and suddenly realized that only couples are present. It dawned upon us that it would be so much of a better experience if we had also come with our girlfriends (of course first we need to have one :P). Finally the moment for which everyone was waiting came. The Sun decided to leave the comfort of its clouds and stepped above to embrace the world. The streaks of red, orange and pink now filled the sky and the blues were all rushing back. We marvelled at the sight and a thrilling feeling of awe swept over us. After seeing it to our heart’s content we planned to explore the area even more. It’s a nice trekking spot. One must see places like the Nandi temple, suicide point and Tipu’s Drop. It is perfect place for Couples and friends.

Some pics of Nandi Hills.

We went to a mysterious cave via stairs downwards. Then we came up and started giving various hypothesis regarding the cave. And this photo was taken from there as it gave a better angle of these trees and soft sun rays were coming from the branches of these tress and kissing the lens of the camera gently.

This is the amazing and priceless click of the sunrise which is nothing less than the heaven. It's like we have entered the kingdom of Sun where clouds are serving at his feet.

It was the first place that we visited in the morning. This path was looking beautiful due to fog, trees and decorative plants and was the perfect place for photography. In this pic one of my friends went to give a pose and this is the best among those.

This was taken in front of a building which has a historic importance as SAARC summit was conducted here in 1986 and known as 'Nehru Nilay'.

This is some of the fun times in the jungle  keeping the timer ON in the camera.

Note: - You can try to find all the secret tunnels or Doorways present (since it was a fort before). We could find 11 of them!

Be Safe:- this place has a lot of monkeys who can snatch anything (food, purse, bags, etc.) and usually it is a tough time handling them.
